Bonhomme spoke last year of the reduction of the school's population to only 220, 60%, after the January 12, 2010 earthquake. Many students left the country, not to mention the inevitable recession the devastation caused in the country. Many were unable to return to school.
However, by the end of September that year, their graduation ceremony was a reminder of the perseverance of the school, its faculty and student body. Many speeches abounded to a large audience that filled the room to capacity, and included that given by the Bishop, Pierre Andre Dumas, who charged the graduates to always be honest. After four years spent learning about international relations, trade, finance, diplomacy and the law, the graduates, in their flowing white and gold gowns, are ready to present Haitian diplomacy to the rest of the world.
The ANDC (Academie Nationale Diplomatique et Consulaire) has focused heavily on giving quality training to its students, having money be a secondary consideration, to put forth the bright batch of future ambassadors and diplomats who will go on to represent the country to the world.
