New Bwe Kafe Coffee Shop opened in Washington Street, Hoboken

Bwe Kafe, meaning "to drink coffee" in French Créole, orders its fair-trade coffee from La Columbe, who buys the coffee beans from Haiti coffee cooperatives. The coffee house showcases Haitian arts and crafts and encourages patrons to form discussion groups in its performance space.

With a Haitian-inspired theme, the Ryans want to remind customers Haiti must not be forgotten. A long road of recovery is still ahead of them. Evan and Dale are also looking at other business models in Asia to offer exceptional ambiance and service to their patrons. Even though Bwe Kafe is new, word of mouth about the exotic aesthetic the Dales have created is drawing a crowd of coffee lovers interested in third-world social change.

Bwe Kafe offers coffee-pairing desserts, as well as frozen yogurt. Dale wants to add more menu items and literary entertainment in the evenings. She adds the business has been ". . . very, very rewarding . . . and Bwe Kafe a "meaningful place."
