BOID: Haiti's New Security Brigade

The National Police of Haiti graduated 254 police officers of the new Brigade of Operation and Departmental Intervention (BOID). The ceremony occurred at the National Police Academy in Freres.

BOID was created to respond to emergencies on the spur-of-the-moment. It will be used to combat crime in afflicted neighborhoods and support departmental investigative units. BOID is also expected to provide security to Haitian deportees, arriving from the Dominican Republic, who are trying to repatriate to Haiti.
