20 People Electrocuted In Haitian Carnival Barikad Crew Float

On February 17, 2015, in the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince, 17 people were killed and more than 60 people were injured of stampede in a panic when a carnival float hit a power line during the celebration of "Nou Tout Se Ayiti".

As per news agency report someone on a float packed with the members of the Barikad Crew and their fans, removed an overhead line with a pole after it had passed the viewing stand for the Haitian President Michel Martelly. Their crew singer 'Fantom' who was standing on the top of the float, removed a high voltage power line with a stick out of the way so that the float could pass under it. Later on the same day, the new Haitian Prime Minister Evans Paul arranged a silent condolence parade on the Champ de Mars where the accident occurred. A state funeral was held on February 21, after three days of mourning.
