Held now for its 8th year, the International Jazz Festival will feature performances from French acts, artistes from Cameroon, Benin and the United States, to name a few. The legwork and effort was made by partners of the Haiti Jazz Foundation, including the Tourism and Culture Ministries, the International Organization of the Francophony and 9 embassies.
For the 2014 festival, the launch will happen in the country's second largest city, found in the north, Cap Haitian. There is a doubled cultural aspect for visitors who make it to that leg of the festival, as the city is close to the home of the famous Citadelle. The first concert of the series will be free and will be held at the Cultural Centre Jacques Stephen Alexis, from which it will continue on to the capital. There will, as well, be other free shows held as 'after hours' sessions hosted in several Port-au-Prince restaurants,
On the line-up for the event is Germany's Jochen Ruckert, the Soul Rebels from the United States, Julie Michels from Canada and Sandra Nkaké representing France and Cameroon, among others.
