Herold Christophe, the great love singer of the Haitian girls in the late 80s, has left for another world on August 28, 2015. He has died in Boston, Massachusetts, after his five year long fight with prostate cancer. As per news sources, for the last five years, the singer had tried everything; gone through many sessions of chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, blood transfusion, and he even followed many forms of natural remedies. Unfortunately, earlier this year, the doctors told his family members that the last sessions of chemotherapies were doing more harm than good to him. In the span of last 2-3 months, he had lost his ability to eat, drink, swallow or move and was even fighting to breathe.

Herold Christophe was born (05/ 03/1965) in the north of Haiti. At one point of time he moved to the Dominican Republic and became a well known singer in the islands of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. About five years ago, when he started to experience a chronic pain, his mother suggested him to visit the United States to figure out exactly what was wrong. The U.S. doctors diagnosed his illness as prostate cancer.

Hérold was not very well known to the new generation, but he was an idol, especially he was as much a heartthrob for teen girls of the 1980's. His albums like Maman, Je t'aime, Loin de toi, Donne-moi, Manou, Chantons en ChÅ"ur, Je pars" will be remembered as classics in Haitian music. He never waited for opportunities to come, but worked hard to achieve them. He possessed some personal qualities that every successful artist has in common: choice of words, passion, powerful voice and connect with the audience. Herold Christophe was a romantic artist. His romance had a different appeal-- a slow Kompa.

Herold was married to Marie Josée Louis and was the father of six children. His lyrics and melodies will always remain fresh in the minds of Haitian music lovers.
