The initiative is a partnership with academics, professionals and educators who are striving to provide teaching of the necessary techniques such as environmental monitoring, microbiology, wet chemistry as well as molecular biology. Their vision for the long term is to create an up-to-date bioscience lab facility which would serve to provide education in the life sciences for the youth of Haiti.
The group is currently seeking sponsorship to fund a planned series of pilot bioscience education events, lasting for five days each. The group is in the process of securing that funding through the KIND Healthy Snack's "Do the Kind Thing" project. They award a sum of $10,000 to certain projects that fit with the requirement of the project.
The pilot project is currently in its early stage, so the reception of $10,000 will greatly bolster the capacity to give scholarships to worthy applicants. It would also aid in covering some of the cost for materials, equipment and reagents. The funds would greatly improve the Haitian Bioscience Initiative.
The fostering of young talent in these areas can play a pivotal role in turning the country into an emerging market within the next 16 years.
