Laurent Lamothe at MIT to address poverty, education, and recovery initiative

A multi-faceted program, it offers instructors professional development in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). SEEP has also given Haitian officials professional development as well. Executive Education Director, Pete Hirst, of MIT-SEEP explains innovation must become reality before real growth and recovery can happen in Haiti, and it can only happen from within the country.
So far MIT-HI has instructed 100-plus teachers in STEM subjects. It has also given Haiti's government the highest level of leadership education. In 2013, MIT-SEEP gave an in-depth class to Lamothe's cabinet officers, "Transforming Your Leadership Strategy". There they learned forward-thinking ideas to share with their departments.
Incorporated into the next step of MIT-HI is a leadership training workshop, aimed at 50-plus private investors participating in Haiti's reconstruction. The Head of State, cabinet members, and other government officials will also be included. MIT Professors Deborah Ancona and Michel DeGraff will run the training program.
Hirst has said about MIT-HI, "We hope to share practical tools and frameworks relevant to many areas of education and management . . ."
