Lucie Tondreau, Mayor of North Miami

The municipal election in North Miami is over and the Haitian community has elected two of its own to represent them in the management of the city.

Haitian American Lucie Tondreau, has been elected mayor of North Miami, holding for the first time an elected position. She faced in the second round the former Mayor of the City, Kevin Burns

Philippe Bien-Aime, a newcomer in politic, won over Jacques Despinosse, another Haitian American with 2/3s of the vote to become District 3 City Council.

The election in North Miami was held on Tuesday June 4, 2013. These results are preliminary and official according to the North Miami Elections Department.

Here is the actual count of the preliminary results: Mayor Kevin Burns 3,227 votes 44.30%; Lucie M. Tondreau 4,058 votes 55.70%

Councilman for District 3: Philippe Bien-Aime 1,103 votes 67.26%; Jacques Despinosse 537 votes 32.74%

Congradulation Mrs Tondresu I'm proud of you and all of us to be the first Haitian American woman to be elected as a Mayor of the city of North.

Miami you are an example for our daughters .i know you have a battle in front of you, we will continue to pray for God will give you some strength as you are a strong lady .Congradulation again.
