The Group DISIP creating music for a worldwide audience

The group Disip has put two songs in circulation, whose title "Heartbreak & misery" and "San manti". To many, this is a change in the way the band has been playing music. After so many years not producing much, the group DISIP seems to be returning in force and with a new concept in the Haitian music scene. According to some early comments, this new style of the group DISIP is intended to do something that the majority of Haitian bands have not been able to do yet, which is making a dent in the international music industry. The lyrics continue to be for the most part in the Haitian Creole, but some music experts do not think this alone can prevent the Haitian music from reaching an international market. If we can produce good music for the international market, they will will consume it.

Mosler Georges resigned as Executive Director of the CEP

All of a sudden, and without any explanation, Mr. Mosler George resigned as Executive Director of the Provisional Electoral Council. This is quite a surprise. We have no one willing to comment on this. Mosler George played a key role in the elections of August 8 and October 25, 2015. He did not earn the trust of too many people as he was accused for having some responsibilities regarding the last election.

N'ap Manje banann nan sou tout form, Bouyi, Peze, Papita

In Haiti, you never know when you might get into trouble. This is the case in the city of Arcahaie on May 18, 2016 for the celebration of our Haitian Flag. Furing the mass celebration, Father Julien who wanted to promote Plantain which is a local product stated that: "N'ap Manje banann nan sou tout form, Bouyi, Peze, Papita". This statement came out not asintended but appeared to be in support of the PHTK candidate Jovenel Moise who has identified himself as the Plaintain Man, "Neg Banann Nan"

Do you think this was a innocent statement from Father Julien or do you feel it was intentional to support PHTK candidate Jovenel Moise?

Jovenel Moise is not my Cousin, said Moise Jean Charles

This hopefully will put an end to the rumor. The rumor came from the leader of the Political Party OPL. Sauveur Pierre Etienne who came with the notion that the two Moises, Jovenel Moise and Moise Jean Charles whose real name is Jean Charles Moise would be blood relatives and that the two Candidates for President are Cousins. Moise Jean Charles did not waste time to react by denying any family tie with the Candidate of PHTK. He stated "Jovenel Moise is not my cousin". The candidate of Pitit Dessalines" I came from Milot in the North and Jovenel moise is from Trou-du-nNord in the north east.

Children sent home from school for wearing t-shirts with Haitian flag

You can call it school policy, racism or the new anti-Immigrant feeling being promoted by the Republican party leader Donald Trump. Some six Haitian children got kicked out of school in Immokalee, Florida on May 18, 2016 for just celebrating their Haitian flag. Jesola Pierre, on of the six children who proudly wore the Haitian flag and National coat of arms on Haitian flag day were sent, missing an entire day of school

There is one thing that Collier County school officials do not understand. Haitian flag day has a particular significance for people of Haitian descent. The flag we celebrate represents a symbol of pride for having led the first successful slave revolt and the creation of the first black republic in the Americas.

New Decree by Privert raising the Minimum wage in Haiti

In an effort to calm the recent street protests about the minimum salary, the government of Jocelerme Privert has announced that a new Decree will be issued today (May 19, 2016). o increase the minimum salary of the employees in Haiti. As a result, the Supreme Council of Salaries has reacted favorably to the announcement. On his part, Prime minister Enex Jean-Charles continues to invite all sectors of the population to work together, stating that only peace and political stability can help the country to find the path of economic development.

Guy Philippe wans Jocelerme Privert not to go after him

Guy Philippe is one man who does not wear his pants for good fabric. The Senate candidate of Grand'Anse sent a warning to President Jocelerme not to send any armed individuals in his direction as the government is trying to blame him for the recent attack on the Police Station in Cayes. His enemies are not in the Police Station in Cayes but instead at the National palace. Guy Philippe is also calling on the population of Grand'Anse to get ready to cut roads in case of an eventual attack; that he will do the rest because he has well prepared men ready to face the men of Privert.

Wilson Laleau self invitation to Parquet did not affect his travel interdiction

The former Minister of Finance under Martelly-Paul administration, Wilson Laleau, is still unable to leave the country. Family members, friends living outside of the country will have to wait a while before they can see Mr. Laleau. Contrary to what his attorney, Reynold Geoges, has been saying that his client would not go to the Parquet, on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, the former Minister of Finance invited himself to the Parquet de Port-au-Prince, hoping to convince the Chief of the Parquet to remove the travel restriction; however it did not happen. After spending more than two hours responding to various questions, he came out empty handed.

Haiti will not be member of the African Union but observer

Hi folks do not keep your hope too high about Haiti becoming a member of the African Union. it will not happen. The spokesman of the Presidency of the African Union, Jacob Enoh Eben just announced that. Haiti can not be admitted as a member into the African Union. This information circulating in the media that Haiti's admission would be formalized in July, "this information is wrong", said the spokesman. Haiti maintain its observer status; however only African States may join as full members of the African Union..

Fritz Deshommes elected new rector of UEH

Fritz Deshommes has been elected to as the new Rector of the State University of Haiti. The election took place on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. The new governing body includes Fritz Deshommes, Hérold Toussaint and Jacques Blaise. In his first public statement, the new rector expressed his desire to focus on the institutionalization of the university. He entends to put in application the plan developed in 2011 which is to improve the working condition of teachers and employees of the establishment.
