Regional Director for Best Western, Tom Osborn, reports operations have had a few bumps in the road, generally with training the staff. But he added this is to be expected, and has not harmed the brand, because media coverage has been positive, especially in regards to the indigenous art incorporated into the hotel's amenities.
The hotel was funded by a tripartite investorship: Aimbridge Hospitality, Carabimmo SA, and Best Western International. The hotel contains 106 guest rooms, with Wi-Fi Internet access, flat panel TVs, a French restaurant, and full-service bar.
The opening of Best Western Premier follows upon the heels of another luxury hotel doing well in Haiti, the Royal Oasis, which launched in December 2012. It is owned by Occidental, a Spanish corporation.
Vice President of Caribbean Operations and Development, representing Aimbridge, Rich Cortese, says, "We are very excited and privileged to open the newest full-service hotel on . . . Haiti." He adds with pride Best Western has employed 95 new workers, most of them Port-au-Prince natives.
Carabimmo Senior Manager, Kenny Narwani, comments the opening of the Best Western Premier is a landmark event, which heralds the continuing resurgence of Haiti's tourist industry to bring in more tourist dollars to strengthen the island's economy.
