Rodrigue Milien, Raoul Guillaume, Jean Antoine Occide, Mimi Barthélémy recognized

On 31st of May, 2013, President Michel Martelly, in presence of First Lady Sophia Martelly, Minister of Tourism, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, Minister of Culture, Josette Darguste, several musicians and various government officials, expressed his wish to honor and pay tribute to four great artists of the nation. Martelly called them as highly creative and powerful artists and expressed his gratitude for the contributions made by the artists in the fields of community development, literature and music.

The fours artists who were named for this honor and tribute from President Martelly are Mimi Barthélémy - the storyteller (real name: Michele Armand, death: 27th April, 2013), Father Jean Antoine Occide (known as Father Sicot), Raoul Guillaume - the musician, and Rodrigue Milien - the artist.

President Martelly announced that he was proud to present these four men as examples to the Nation and hoped that future generations will get inspired by the deeds of these four great men and help him to construct the new Haiti. He said that it was his pleasure to be able to honor those men who rendered outstanding services to the community and who have enriched the Haitian Culture through actions and expressions.

Father Jean Antoine Occide was honored with National Order of Honor and Merit to the Grade of Grand Officer for his significant contributions towards the development of the community. Raoul Guillaume was honored with National Order of Honor and Merit to the Grade of Knight for consistent contributions to Haitian music. The award for Mimi Barthélémy was posthumously by Dr. Didier Armand. Mimi Barthélémy was honored with National Order of Honor and Merit to the Grade of Knight for her exceptional talents as powerful storyteller. Honoring Rodrigue Milien, President Martelly inaugurated the work of renovation for Haiti National Television's "Studio I", which was named as "Studio Rodrigue Milien" for his outstanding contributions as an artist and a musician.
