April 20th Haitian National Day of the Diaspora

MHLA is partnering with the Association of the Haitian Diaspora Working in Haiti to present this year's theme, "The Real Integration of the Diaspora for a Green Haiti". It will focus on greening Haiti's infrastructure: solar energy, green buildings, agriculture, and recycling. President Martelly, as keynote speaker, will officiate on opening day, Wednesday the 17th, at Karibe Convention Center.
On Saturday the 20th, General Consulates in Haiti, the U.S., and Canada are planning activities to acknowledge the Diaspora's contributions. In Point-à-Pitre, Mission Consular will exhibit the paintings of Maurice Vital, along with Richardson Dorvil's stunning photography appearing in his book, "Haiti, a Country to Discover". Dorvil will be autographing copies after the exhibit.
Haiti's General Consulate to Montréal is holding Day of the Haitian Diaspora, happening at the McCord Museum. In Chicago, General Consulate of Republic of Haiti will hold its celebration at Bethel Evangelical Church. The youth group "Hope for Haitian Youth and Elderly" will be present.
The final day, Sunday the 21st, Mission Consular will guest on Radio Haiti Internationbale to discuss "The Economic, Political, and Cultural Development of Haiti: a Challenge for the Diaspora".
