Floyd Mayweather against Haitian-American Andre Berto

Andre Berto Ready to Hammer Floyd Mayweather in Championship Bout

Floyd Mayweather, who has maintained a perfect record of 48 fights won with zero losses, wants to duplicate the record of former heavyweight boxer icon, Rocky Marciano, who had a 49-0 record. He plans to box Haitian-American, Andre Berto, whose record of 30-3, is a respectable showing for a still young fighter. Berto's tally of 23 knockouts is just 3 behind Mayweather's 26. If he kills Mayweather in the ring, it will bring the total to 24, closing in on Mayweather. Mayweather reigns as the World Boxing Association and World Boxing Council champ.

Fight fans are anxious to see the battle in which Berto, who has been defeated three times in his last six bouts, may be at the end of a losing streak, and could trounce Mayweather. Mayweather may be more experienced, but Berto is younger and hungry for glory. Berto is confident telling the press, ". . . somebody is getting knocked out and it won't be me." Mayweather boasts, ". . . 48 have tried before and . . . I'm going to make it 49."

Mayweather's impressive career includes winning 12 world championships in five weight categories, defeating 22 world title holders. Berto, who fought in the 2004 Olympics, captured the World Boxing Championship title in 2008. Although he held onto his title through five championship fights, he lost it in 2011. But the same year he re-bounded, winning the International Boxing Federation title.
