Electricite d'Haiti has been working tirelessly to restore infrastructures which were completely decimated by tropical storm Isaac. They are expected to continue to work around the clock to move the process forward.

EDH is largely a government owned company providing electricity to about 12.5% of the population; 25% if counting illegal connections. Most of their infrastructure are very old

Current demand for electricity consumption in Haiti is about 60% Residential, 20% Industrial, 15% Transport and 5% Services. EDH has a national capacity that is largely insufficient to meet the demand of the Haitian population.

As a result of ongoing shortage of electricity in Haiti, many families, businesses and iinstitutions (e.g. hospitals, schools) have to rely on their own diesel generators and as a result spend large portions of their income on fuel to run those generators.
