Jounal la pandan fen semèn nan te pale kont fwod masiv nan eleksyon ki sot pase a an Ayiti. New York Times di pou premye fwa depi eleksyon ki sot pase a, gen yon kriz elektoral an Ayiti e li ap mande pou eleksyon lejitim.

Dapre jounal la, eleksyon nan mwa Oktòb sa te sijè falsifikasyon bilten vòt, vòt ilegal ak lòt abi ke yo te lajman denonse kòm ilejitim. Koulye a, New York Times refere li a eleksyon an kòm "yon echèk Colosal."

New York Times te di tou ke Etazini "ta dwe konnen ke li enposib pou bati yon gouvènman lejitim sou yon fondasyon pouri". "Nenpòt ki moun ki gen sousi pou demokrasi nan yon peyi ki gen sò li byen mare nan panse, pafwa mechanste nan peyi Etazini ak rès mond la ta dwe peye atansyon. Ayisyen merite plis ke sa"

New York Times tou mande refòm nan CEP a. "Nenpòt efò pou fè yon eleksyon kredib ta dwe gen ladan refòm nan konsèy elektoral la, yo akize de parsyalite ak enkonpetans," Times di.

New York Times refers to Haiti Election as colossal failure

The notion is when New York Times newspaper says something, we all listen and the newspaper said quite a lot about what we think is likely to happen in Haiti in the coming weeks and months. The newspaper over the weekend came out strongly against the the massive fraud in the last election in Haiti. New York Times is saying for the first time since the last election that there is an electoral crisis in Haiti and is calling for legitimate elections. According to the newspaper, the election in October was so marred by reports of ballot tampering, illegal voting and other abuses that the result has been widely denounced as illegitimate. Now, it is referring to the election as "a colossal failure."

New York Times went on to say that the United States "should know that it's impossible to build a legitimate government on a rotten foundation". "anyone who cares about democracy in a country whose fate is so closely tied to the wandering and sometimes malign attentions of the United States and the rest of the world should pay attention. Haitians deserve better than this,"

New York Times also demands reforms in the CEP. "Any effort at staging a credible election should include reform of the electoral council, accused of partisanship and incompetence," said Times.
