Breaking News - Minibus accident at avenue Poupelard, 8 in very serious condition

The CPD, officers of the National Police and of the Stabilization mission of the UN (Minustah) reported that a accident involving a Minibus caused 24 injuries. Eight of the victims are in a very critical state. The injured people were transported to the Hospital of the State University of Haiti to receive care.

As it is often the case, the reason for this accident was "Brake system failure". The minibus involved in the accident ensures daily transportation between Delmas and Portail Léogâne. The people that were struck include passer-bys, and the merchants of the place.

Clinton Bush Haiti Fund in Support of Bernard Mevs Hospital

Bernard Mevs Hospital is underway to receive a total of $442,100 dollars benefit, courtesy of Clinton Bush Haiti Fund Grant. This funding is aimed at facilitating educational training seminars for medical professionals and practitioners in Haiti. This announcement comes after the Bernard Mevs Hospital received the state-of-art Medical equipment which has eventually transformed it into the sole well equipped medical facility to handle major surgeries and critical trauma victims.

During a visit to the hospital, Bill Frist, a renowned US surgeon and senator, said that there was great need in holding educational seminars which will enable Haitian medical professionals to handle the new equipment with competence. With the State-of-art equipment acting as the center of attraction, there will be an increased number of competent medical professionals from Bernard Mevs Hospitals as well as other high profile hospitals in Haiti.

Heineken to build hospitals and schools in Haiti

As the third largest beer brewing company in the world, Heineken was established in 1864 in Amsterdam by Gerard Adrian Heineken, and has grown into a multi-billion company over the years.

The company is now planning to help Haiti by build hospitals and schools to the people there. This will speed up reconstruction together with other companies helping in other fields. It will help establish schools and hospitals in Haiti but will not brand them the name Heineken. This will help the nation a great deal as it is trying to reconstruct from the earthquake effects.

Capotille Inhabitants Have Every Reason to Smile with a New Modern Hospital

A new health center was recently inaugurated by the minister for Public Health and Populations, Dr. Florence D. Guillaume. This center is located at Capotille, which is located at 17 Km in the south of Ouanamminthe.

The health center will serve 18,000 inhabitants who have been for a long time closing to the Dominican Republic to seek medical attention. The overall cost of building this hospital is estimated at $8 million gourds. The minister said that more is needed to be done to the newly established hospital. This is with regard to stocking the hospital with more health equipments. Other facilities will be added to the existing ones in order to improve the conditions of the hospital. In addition to that, the hospital still required an addition of more qualified professionals who will be treating the inhabitants of Capotille.

Clinton Bush Haiti Fund to provide grant to support Hospital Bernard Mevs

Haiti's health care has been in a poor state for the past decades, with only a limited reach on the county's rural and poverty-stricken areas, as well as the lack of equipment, hospitals and centers, and trained medical personnel. But with the campaign of several concerned Haitians NGOs and foreign efforts, Haitians have gradually been able to receive proper health care and services.

Former United States President Bill Clinton announced that a new grant has been made under the Clinton Bush Haiti fund in order to support the Bernard Mevs Hospital in the country. This was done after Clinton and former U.S. Senator Bill Frist, who happens to be a surgeon, visited Haiti to evaluate on the hospital's program.

A total of $25 million is allocated to be invested in Haiti Health Care. With a plan to rebuild University Hospital of Haiti, the governments of Haiti, France and the U.S. agreed to form a partnership in order to improve the overall health in Haiti.

Is this the beginning of a beautiful relationship to provide needed health care to the Haitian population?

I believe that this relationship was formed as a result of a need to improve the health care system in Haiti. For too long, the country has been left by itself to solve its own health problem. It's like telling a sick person who is unable to get off the bed to go find the medicin in the medicine cabinet. As the President Rene Preval would say: "Nage pou nou soti".
