U.S. Best Western Builds Haiti's First Luxury Hotel

Carabimmo, owner of Best Western Hotels, had the foresight to recognize a void existed for business travelers in Haiti. He contracted with Haitian-based Aimbridge Hospitality, to operate the 2,000 square-foot property, the Best Western Premier Petion-Ville, a luxury hotel that will serve business travelers, set to open fall 2012.

The Petion-Ville luxury hotel will contain plenty of event and meeting halls, and all the amenities that first-class business travelers favor. A fine-dining restaurant, spa, gym, wireless Internet, and flat-screen TVs will pamper jet-lagged business people. Doormen in top hats and tails will greet guests of the Best Western, and if they are heads of state or other VIPs, they may occupy the grand Presidential or Governor's Suites in this 106-room, seven-story edifice.

Aimbridge Hospitality's CEO, Dave Johnson, is excited that Carabimmo has selected his company to partner with, and the opportunity it presents to do business "in a growing country." Taking the lead to start a corporate business in Haiti, Carabimmo opens the door for other private investors to follow in his wake. Already a Korean garment manufacturer is building an industrial park in north Haiti, poised to become a manufacturing center. Let's hope this is the beginning of a trend to help Haiti re-build itself, from the ground up.
