Have you ever seen a Haitian business open, whether in the Diaspora or Haiti in a beautiful location and doesn't last three Months? Many time, the investor did not do an analysis of the environment as to who comes her, for what purpose.

In order to help you out, here are some tips about Business location you may want to keep in mind before opening your next business to serve the Haitian public.

When scouting for a good location for you business, you have to determine your needs. What products or services would you offer? Who is your target market? What kind of workers do you plan to hire? Who are your competitions and complementary businesses? Do you plan to expand in the future? These are some of the questions you need to ask yourself when looking for a location. This way, you can determine if a certain location fits your business in terms of brand image, local labor market, target customers, expansion plans, and accessibility for customers and suppliers.

Do you know why many well established businesses in Haiti sell to retailers who in turn go on the streets to sell? It is one way they are addressing the Location issue.

In selecting a location for your business, another important factor to take into account is the safety of the area. With so many security issues in Haiti in particular such as Kidnapping burglary, break-in, and others, do you think everyone will come to your business if you are located in certain areas.

Before buying or leasing a place for your business, make sure that it is safe and secure. One of the things that both customers and employees consider is if they are safe buying or working at a certain store. Find a suitable area with zero or very low crime rate as you should not expose your business to safety risks.

Finally, your finances should also be in check. Set a budget for buying/renting a place and stick to it. Do not spend an unnecessarily amount of money for a business location just because it is beautiful. You still have to make sure that it is within your budget or your entire capital and investment might be affected.
