Haiti President Michel Martelly inducted Jacques Letang, President of the Bar of Coteaux, as the newly-appointed Representative of the Bars Federation of Haiti (FBH). He will provide legal counsel to the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ), in place of Nehemy Joseph, who recently resigned.

Letang, also Vice President of the Bar Federation of Haiti, has a double Masters of Law degree, issued by the Université Catholique of Lyon. After earning his advanced law degrees, he has held the office of Magistrate, recently becoming a partner in newly-established law firm, Avocats & Avocats LP, International Lawyers Group.

At the swearing-in ceremony, those in attendance included presidents of Parliament's upper and lower houses, Simon Dieuseul Desras, and Jean Tolbert Alexis; Minister of Justice, Jean Renel Sanon, and CSPJ President, Me Arnel Alexis Joseph.

Simon Dieuseul Desras, President of the Senate stated to a journalist on Thursday that Lucmane Delille, Port-au-Prince's Government Commissioner is not competent enough nor does he have the disposition at a professional level to purse a case against Jean-Bertrand Aristide, the former President.

Who Should Deal The Case
Delille seems unfit for various reasons. It is recalled by Senator Desras that the capital city's government commissioner was a GNB or the Grenn Nan Bouda member. GNB translation indicates, 'sexual organs of males in the buttocks'. Elites as a reactionary group formed GNB that includes Haitian President who was a musician formerly. In 2004 to oust the President, Group 184 funded GNB.

It does not matter if you are upset with the decision. It does not matter if you want to start a protest movement. The reality is Permanent Electoral Council is a fact in Haiti. You might think it's illegal, a serious error, made up of illegitimate members, can only be subordinate to the Executive, will likely plunge the country into a crisis. That is beside the fact.

The inauguration of the first 6 members of the Permanent Electoral Council that were appointed recently took place one on August 21, 2012 by President Michel Martelly. Mr Josué Pierre-Louis was appointed President of the new CEP.

Election time is one of the most important affairs for every political body or institution. In Haiti, the Martelly-Lamothe administration is facing a big problem in terms of electing a new set of officials for its legislature. The country's elections were supposed to be held in November 2011, but due to the worsening rift between members of the Senate, it has yet to happen. This has resulted to the legislature short as nearly a third of the senate left with no newly-elected senators to take their places.

In early July, Haitian President Michel Martelly has given the parliament eight days to choose three officials for the Permanent Electoral Council (CEP) in hopes that the elections will be able to push through before the end of 2012. But after these eight days, the legislature has given no response to the President's request.
