2014 Census will cost Haitian Government $26 Million

Some of the principle goals of the census include:

Collection of statistics on:
• Population growth.
• Pregnancies, marriages, deaths, and migration behaviors.
• Environmental features and types of housing.

The end goal is to:
• Give GOH and its international collaborators current demographic and social data. Data collected will be used to develop, execute, oversee, and assess what public policies will be effective in dealing with poverty, social, and employment policies.

• Offer markers for the support of special interest categories: disabled, orphans, and senior citizens.

To reach their goals, GOH will:

• Update its current technology, and make use of social media.

• Use mapping software applications and satellite imagery.

• Formulate new approaches for analyzing conceptual data.

• Develop new, meaningful, and accurate terminology.

Laleau commented ". . . a census is an essential tool in any country . . ." So true and there will be less of an excuse for GOH to not get their priorities straight.
