Was this an accident? At least this is what the people and the Haitian authorities present at the scene stated.

To be honest with you, this was not an accident. Maybe by saying that it was an accident, it removes the responsibility from those who are in fact responsible and should be paying the consequences for death of 12 people and the medical cost of over 30 more.

According to Merriam Webster dictionary, "an accident is defined as an unforeseen and unplanned event or circumstance. It is an unexpected happening causing loss or injury which is not due to any fault or misconduct on the part of the person injured but for which legal relief may be sought."

The event that took place on Saturday was in fact not an accident. This is the case for many events in Haiti that have taken the lives of so many.

How can you call something waiting to happen, an accident? In Haiti, almost no one respects any law of the road. However, they expect everything to be all right.

Tell me, if you decide to jump a two story building and you end up dead, was this an accident?

To me, this was someone who was trying to commit suicide and succeeded. For that person who decided to jump the two story building, there are only three possible results: One, the person may land on his/her two feet with no injury. Two, that person may end up injured with some parts of the body broken. Three, the person may be dead.

Just like the incident on Saturday, many who travel the roads of Haiti are attempting suicide. Remember, there are only three possible results.

Please don't call it accident
