Melissa Laveaux, Canadian Singer with Haitian Roots

Melissa Laveaux is a brilliant music artist of Haitian origin born on January 9, 1985 in Montreal, Quebec. Her songs are based on different themes and genres. She has inspired a lot of new talent in the Canadian music industry. She is a song writer, a vocalist and a guitar player. Her lyrics are quiet touching and are inspired by her life experiences. She has great talent and is very determined.

Melissa Laveaux has spent most of her childhood times in learning guitar on her own. When she was of the age 6, she lost her check which was meant to pay for her piano teacher. With discipline and constant practice, she worked her to expertise on her guitar and vocal skills.

Laveaux has spent a lot of time on community radio to learn the minute details of music composition and singing. With self produced music and composition, she was picked by the French music label NoFormat through her MySpace profile. Her voice had that magic that attracted this French music label to be an addition to their roster.

In July 2006, Melissa Laveaux was all set to release her first album Camphor & Copper. Her album Camphor & Copper won the Lagardère Talent foundation's award in 2007. After winning the award, her album was mixed and produced a new version by Bénédicte Schmidt and was released on the NoFormat. Laveaux has been constantly working for the Haiti and also is a part of the album Hands Off Haiti which is meant for the purpose of Earthquake Relief Fund.
