Goudou Goudou Has Become a Vocabulary to Mean "Quake" In Haiti
January 12, 2010 will be remembered forever by every Haitian in the world. This is the day that a great earthquake struck most places in Haiti. The victims of the earthquake say that they heard the Goudou Goudou and within no time everything had turned into a sort of hell. Goudou Goudou is an onomatopoeic name that Haitians have come to refer to the sound made by the quake. They say that the ground shake and the falling of buildings coupled with moans gave the sound similar onomatopoeic Goudou Goudou.

Haiti is one of the poorest countries around its region of location. It has for a very long time suffered greatly from bad governance which has been transferred from one generation to another with little success at cubing it. Natural calamities have not given the country a chance either the recent 2010 earthquake being a very good example of what they have been doing to the country. At Least 45 Haitian Voodoo Priests lynched, accused of spreading cholera
It has been reported by the Haitian authority that at least 45 Voodoo priests in Haiti have been killed by the Haitian population because these people assumed the voodoo priests or Houngan, also sometimes called Mambo were responsible for the cholera outbreak in their community. The population suspected that these voodoo leaders have been spreading the cholera disease through their magic power.
It was also reported that these people were killed violently, either by machete, stone or sometimes, just burned to death.
Rene Preval urges for calm after Election results
Following the chaos triggered by the results of the 2010 Haiti Election results, Rene Preval appealed for calm. As thousands of supporters of Michel Martelly took to the streets protesting the election results in which their candidate was not qualified to participate in the runoff election, the president admitted allegation of frauds in the election.
Rene Preval stated that: "If there are problems we can sit down and personally discuss it"." We are asking everyone, please stop burning tires on the roads, stop destroying government buildings, stop attacking people's businesses. We are asking every one to obey the law."" Investors would not want to come if things stay like that."
Haiti reactions to the Election Results 2010
The election result announced late on December 7 showed former first lady Mirlande Manigat and Rene Preval's hand picked man Jude Celestin as the two candidates that will be participating in the runoff election.

Michel Martelly has 21.84 percent and Jude Celestin, 22.48 percent, a difference of less than one percent. Supporters of Michel Martelly, wrecking properties, setting barricades with stones, burning tires, or using any means available to disrupt activities. In Les Cayes, It was reported that several government buildings were burned down.
Haiti wakes-up on Fire, following the Haiti Election 2010
Following the results of the 2010, protesters showed their frustration by burning public and private institutions, setting tires on fire and installing barricades all over he country.
The Haitian Joudalist just learned that the city of Cayes was practically on fire last night. Some public buildings in the city were burned to the ground, including DGI, The seaport "Dwan o Kay", the Justice Palace and several schools. In addition, Radio Carlos Lebond was vandalized and "Boulevard 4 Chemin"is paralized.
Similar situations were also noted in the city of Cap-Haitian. There has been several acts of violence reported in Haiti following the results of the Haiti Election 2010. In several neighborhoods in Cap-Haitian, tires were burning in the streets.
Jean Monestime, First Haitian American County Commissioner in Miami
Our own Jean Monestime defeated Miami-Dade County Commissioner Dorrin D. Rolle on Tuesday, November 2 to become the first Haitian-American elected Commissioner.
Jean Monestime was is a former North Miami City Councilman.
What made this victory for Monestime so sweet, because Dorrin Rolle had a lot more money than he did. Dorrin Rolle spent $329,785 for his campaign, compared to $74,845 spent by Monestime.
Jean was able to rally the Haitian community, the African-American, and Hispanic-American voters in the district to gain that victory.
Jean Monestime obtained his MBA from the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business. He also holds a Bachelor degree in Finance from Florida International University
