Me Carlos Hercules speaking on barriers to democratic elections

Me Carlos Hercules has spoken. In his statement during the installation of the different members of the electoral authorities, the Vice Chairman and member of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) delivered a message where he is asking for a level of fairness in the entire process. According to Me Carlos Hercules, "It is unrealistic to expect the outcome of last year's elections without considering the primarily concerned". " It is impossible to obtain of electoral operators a job well done if they are not paid on time"."It is unrealistic to pretend to the holding of credible elections, honest, democratic elections if the corrupting forces did not abstain; if external forces do not refrain of trafficking of influences and to inclinations to decide in the place and instead of the holders."

Haitians Honored for commitment and consistency in 2013

Several individuals in Haiti have been commended by parliament for their hard work and perseverance in being strong contenders for freedom of speech, press, equalitarianism, etc.

They are: Frantz Duval, Emmelie Prophet Milce Jean Tholbert Alexis Simon Dieuseul Desras Gary Pierre-Paul Charles, Anthony Pascal aka"Konpè Filo" Marie Lucie Bonhomme and Me Carlos Hercules and Francis Concite

These individuals received plates of honor for their promotion of these freedoms and rule of law in their country. Two branches of parliament have deemed these individuals brave peace workers who would step forth when many others may have been too timid.

Lawyers in robes marched to demand revocation of Francisco Rene

Lawyers in Haiti have had enough! Following the arrest of their fellow, Andre Michel, a move many deem as unlawful, Haiti's robed workforce descended upon the streets like a flock of avenging angels to protest his arrest and also to demand the revocation of the Government Commissioner of Port-au-Prince, Francisco René. And they may have been quite right to, if reports as to the suspected nature of the arrest, severely unrepresented by the official arrest record, are to be believed.

For the Commissioner's part, his action of arresting Michel for what is described as a minor traffic infraction was motivated by the current Administration's wish to censor the lawyer who has been very active in cases filed against the government. As such, some of the protesters, unnamed, vocally and harshly criticized the Executive Body and the Minister of Justice, Jean Renel Sanon.

Me Francisco Rene, 9th Government Commissioner, replacing Lucmane Delille

Me Francisco René, the Chief Prosecutor of Port-de-Paix, has been appointed as the Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince and the 9th Commissioner in the President Martelly Government since it came to power. He replaced Me Lucmane Delille, who held this office since October 30, 2012. Me Delille, the former commissioner of Port-au-Prince, has been transferred to the Ministry of Justice.

The appointment of Me Francisco René as the new Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince was confirmed by the Minister of Justice, Jean Renel Sanon, on August 19, 2013. Me Francisco René, as the former Chief Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince, has left behind a mixed record of several unsolved political and judicial scandals. Although Mr. Rene is already a reputed leader of ASMAH, an association of pro-government judges, his appointment as the Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince came amidst stern condemnation and protest even before he took charges as the Ninth Commissioner of the Government.

Haiti Secret Service Chief, Marc-Arthur Phebe, Linked To Brandt Kidnapping Case

Another big and prominent name has been dragged into an ongoing kidnapping case involving business tycoon Clifford Brandt. According to reports, Brandt, one of the main suspects in the crime, claimed that Marc-Arthur Phebe was the mastermind behind the kidnappings. Phebe is a National Police officer, as well as the head of the National Palace's CAT Team. He is also Brandt's family security chief.

In order to defend himself, Phebe sought the services of lawyer Carlos Hercule, who is the president of the Federation of Bar Associations. This move is seen to favor Phebe as Hercule is considered one of the most powerful lawyers in the country.
