A Matter of Gratitude and Respect - Open letter to President Donald Trump

OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES - A MATTER OF GRATITUDE AND RESPECT

Boca Raton, Florida
January 2018
President Donald Trump
The White House
Washington, D.C.

Mr. President, several years ago, I wrote an open letter to President Ronald Reagan on behalf of Haitian expatriates fleeing the murderous Duvalier regime who were seeking refuge in our country but were being deported. A similar situation is occurring today with the presence here under temporary protection status granted by President Obama of some of the victims of the terrible earthquake that killed 300,000, wounded thousands, left more than a million homeless and destroyed the infrastructures of many areas. After that disaster and the non-delivery of most of the international help that was offered, Haiti is far from recovering. To add insult to pain and suffering, you have reportedly qualified Haitians and their nation with a vulgar, blatantly mean expletive. Should you and your Government decide to deport them, Mr. President, they and their nation at least deserve respect and an apology. Many have been the arguments invoked in favor of allowing those few people to remain here - compassion, justice, human rights, protection of lives, family unification, etc. Unfortunately, all that is being defeated in the name of "law and order" and "defense of our borders". I am taking the initiative to write to you, Mr. President, not just as a request for compassion or justice, but also in defense of the honor of my native Haiti, a glorious country whose epopee is the most heroic in History, a nation to whom the whole world and the United-States in particular owe a debt of gratitude.

Rocco, Madonna's son in Haiti - Ti moun san Pantalon: Why?

Here is a picture of Rocco, Madonna's son in Haiti with a group of deprived children. In this particular picture, he is sharing a candid pictures as he is taking a group of children to something that looks to be one of the their charity work. Eske Li reellman necesè pou yo montre ti moun yo san pantalon?

Mon cher, mwen kapab di-ou, si pou yon moun kompran ke pou li fè moin Kado yon bagay, fok li himilye-m, mwen pa bezoin li.

I think that for a boy like Rocco, the son of a multi Million dollar artist to be thinking about poor, deprived children from a poor country such as Haiti, it is to be commended. However, my question stands: Why the humiliation, why can't you give me something why giving me all the respects I deserve.

Haitian passengers feel American Airlines exhibit patterns of disrespect toward them

What's going on with American Airlines and Haitian passengers at Toussaint L'Ouverture Airport after Isaac last weekend?

From what I heard, it was not a pretty picture at the Haitian airport in Port-au-Prince. I was told that many of our brothers and sisters who were scheduled to come to the US were unable to.

Hey, it happens all the times and every airport! so what is the big deal?

From what I understand, it was a problem of attitude and lack of respect for Haitian customers. Several people reported that after American Airlines had its flights cancelled to and from Haiti due to Tropical Storm Isaac, many passengers were left without any information about their options. Many people who live and work in the United States were not able to determine when they would be able to comeback to work. They also have the impression that American Airlines was not making any efforts to accommodate them as they were stranded at the Haitian airport.
