In general everything goes well, Edmond Mulet following Haiti election

I do not know where the Director of the Stabilization Mission in Haiti, MINUSTAH, gets his information.

Following the 2010 Haiti election, Mr. Edmond Mulet said: " "in general everything goes well, all is quiet. There are minor incidents in Desdunes (north of the country) but there is no reason to fear because it is a party election."

Was he looking at the same thing we were looking at? Please, can someone tell me?

Is Mulet referring to the election in Haiti that took place on November 28?

Was he listening to the news media that were covering all the problems I heart about on the day of the election?

A review of the 2010 Haiti election day in Video

Haiti Election 2010

The 2010 Haiti election day was marked by mass irregularities, chaos, confusion, riot, and demand for annulment of the election. Most of the candidates were united against the candidate of the UNITE, Jude Celestin, whom they accused for creating al types of irregularities in order to still the election. The blame went directly to the actual president Rene Preval, for wanting to keep his political party in power.

The chaos started well before the polling places were open. Long lines of people waiting for polling places to be open. In some cases they did not open until 9 or 10 am in the morning.

Latest poll, Candidate Jude Celestin is gaining Ground

A Picture of Candidates Jude Celestin and Mirlande Manigat

The latest poll for Haiti Presidential election showed candidate Jude Celestin is gaining ground.

According to the Miami Herald, Mirlande Manigat is still the front runner, however Jude Celestin is right behind her. The report from Miami Herald gave Mirlande Manigat a lead of 23.2 percent of the likely voters if the election was taking place at this time and for Jude Celestin, 22.5 percent. Cholera outbreak an excuse not to hold Haiti Election

Haiti Presidential Election Ballot

Is the Haitian government trying to use the Cholera outbreak not to hold election in November? I do not know about you, but I actually do not see a clear leader now in the Haiti election. I can safely say at this time that anyone of the four leading candidates could win in November, and that includes either Michel Martelly, Mirlande Manigat, Jude Celestin, or Charles Henri Baker.

For a presidential election in Haiti that is appearing to be more and more out of control, I think this is a great opportunity to buy time and look further into the future to see what's ahead. Last Saturday Haitian President Rene Preval voiced his concern about the upcoming November 28 Haiti election, worrying about potential contagion at the polling stations.

New Video raising the race factor in Haiti 2010 Election

We just received a videotape raising the issue of race in the Haiti 2010 Presidential election. The main question, according to Mr. Wilner Nau who produced this videotape was:
How can we Haitian, with over 90% of the population being of African descent, elect a White Man in 2010? Mr. Nau further stated that Haiti is the first Black independent nation in the Caribbean. Over 100,000 Haitians were killed to put the white people out of the country. For a country that killed White people to get its independence, Mr. Nau would like to know what to say the next time a Jamaican, people from Trinidad and Tobago, or anyone who is working with him asks him the question: "What's up with your White President"
