Mr. Karl Jean-Louis, Head of the Investment Facilitation Center (CFI)

Haiti is a country of hidden treasures, and recently of smart investment opportunities. This is what the country's Investment Facilitation Center has been promoting for the past six years since its creation in the year 2006. The autonomous institution encourages the private sector both inside and outside Haiti in investing on Haiti and assisting the country's government in its projects. To date, CFI has already been able to help more than a hundred companies in successfully establishing themselves in Haiti, which are valued to be around 900 million U.S. dollars. It boasts its advantage as the perfect investment opportunity in the Caribbean because investors are in turn fully supported by the government.

The CFI, despite its success, still has a whole lot to prove as Haiti needs more investments for further economic development. The inauguration of Karl Jean-Louis as its new director seems to most likely boost the institution's success rate. He was put into office after CFI's former director Guy Lamothe was made Ambassador of Haiti to Mexico. Jean-Louis was the Presidential Advisory Council for Economic Development and Investment's former executive director before being promoted for the CFI.

Jean-Louis is marked by his competence, dedication, and efficiency in the entirety of his career in the Haitian government that is why expectations are set quite high for him to deliver. In his speech during his inauguration, he announced his future plans for the development of CFI and the strategies he'll take in order to attract more and more investors for the country. These are very promising but Haiti has yet to see them take effect.
