On Thursday, 16 January 2014, the response capabilities of Haiti in the event of major natural disaster was enhanced when the U.S. Ambassador Pamela White accompanied by other officials from U.S Embassy in a handover ceremony in the capital city, donated 12 transport vehicles and 12 watercrafts to Haitian Emergency Response and Civil Protection Agencies. The transport vehicles include six 20-foot, all-terrain cargo trucks, six all-terrain, large cabin pick-up trucks. The watercrafts delivered include twelve 18-foot search and rescue boats.

These trucks and boats were purchased under U.S. Southern Command's Humanitarian Assistance Program to extend Haiti's emergency response capabilities in life-threatening and natural disasters crises. The Haitian representatives from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security accepted the keys of the vehicles on behalf of country's National Police firefighters. The trucks will be used by the Association of Haitian Volunteer Firefighter and these will be added to their existing fleet of disaster relief capabilities in six of the ten Emergency Units built under U.S assistance program for strengthening Haiti's disaster response system.

According to former Lower House President, Levaillant Louis-Jeune, Pamela Ann White, the United States Ambassador to Haiti, has become the one-woman representative of all things regarding the National Palace.

Louis-Jeune stated that a group of Minister's of Parliament was contriving to send a letter to the United States President, Barack Obama, informing him of the Haitian Ambassador's less than diplomatic behavior.

Pamela Ann White is widely considered a Martelly Administration spokesperson and as such her credibility suffers. As such, INITE, the National Coordinator, took her late statement about an election this year without weight.

Born in Lewiston Maine, in 1948, Pamela Ann White, US Ambassador stationed in Haiti, spent her formative years in nearby Auburn. She graduated from the Edward Little High School in 1967 and went on to graduate with a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Maine in 1971.

Following Haitian President Martelly's acceptance of the credentials of new ambassadors from the countries' Denmark, Norway, and neighboring Jamaica in May, three other ambassadors from the United States, Germany, and Honduras have been warmly accepted this August at the National Palace in Port-au-Prince. This was in line with the Martelly administration's efforts in strengthening Haiti's international relations and further improving and developing the country and its people.

Ambassador María Eugenia Barrios Aleman of Honduras is one of the three newly accepted diplomats to Haiti. She is a doctor in medicine and general surgery and specializes in cosmetic and laser dermatology, as well as venereology. She also serves as a diplomat to Haiti's close neighbor, the Dominican Republic, since 2010.

In a move that seems shocking and unpredictable, President Barack Obama has nominated Ambassador Pamela Ann White, a career diplomat to replace the current U.S. Ambassador Kenneth H. Merten. To take effect, the nomination has to be approved by the U.S. Senate. This was announced on Monday, January 23, 2012.

"The Real power player"

Pamela Ann White currently serves as the U.S. Ambassador to Gambia. Prior to that, she worked for United States Agency for International Development (USAID) where she was Mission Director in Liberia, Tanzania, and Mali. From 1999 to 2001, Pamela Ann White served as USAID's Deputy Director for East Africa. She also held a number of overseas positions with USAID, including: Executive Officer in Senegal, Haiti, Egypt and South Africa and Community Liaison Officer in Burkina Faso.
