Ronald Lareche elected Senate president

In a meeting at the Haitian Senate on July 20, 2016, former Vice President Ronald Lareche was elevated to the top position. He is now the President of the Haitian Senate. Here is the composition of the Senate:

Twelve Senators offer two Months paychecks for the election

Twelve Senators currently supporting Jocelerme Privert want to contribute financially for the organization of the next elections in Haiti. They wrote to Prime Minister Enex Jean Charles, asking him to order Finance to hold their paychecks for the months of August and September. These Senators decided to do that following the decision by the United States not to finance the next elections in Haiti.

Here are their names of the Senators who agreed to forgo their paychecks for August and September:

Assad Volcy enters Senate race as candidate for West Department

The Deputy Secretary General of the Platform Pitit Dessalin, Assad Volcy, wants to become Senator of the West Department. "Pou lari a" is his new slogan that he intends to win he race with. Assad Volcy will be competing with Jean Myrtho Muraille, another member of his candidate for platform Pitit Dessalin for this seat. At this time, the candidates are waiting for the National Electoral Office (BCEN) verdict on a dispute by Muraille, candidate in the last election.

Senators Jean Renel Senatus and Youri Latortue, a marriage made in Hell

Senator Jean Renel Senatus (alias Zokiki) no longer wants to be associated with Youri Latortue Block in the Senate. He is now asking for a divorce. Our Senator suddenly realized that he did not know what he was getting into when he joined the Youri Latortue Block.

I just want to point out that this was not the case just a few days ago. I guess the environment was different. This was the time when political deals were being made and Senators and Deputies had the opportunity to bargain for positions in the new government that was supposed to be created.

Senator Jocelerme Privert wan Senate Presidency over Yuri Latortue

Among two well qualified candidates for Haiti Senate seat, one must wan. The Senator of Nippes, Jocelerme Privert, became President of the Senate in a competition with Senator Yuri Latortue. He will be accompanied by Senator Rnald Lareche of Nord-Est who was elected as vice-President of the Senate, Senator Fritz Carlos Lebon, Sud, elected as treasurer, Senator Francois Lucas Sainvil as First Secretary and Steven Benoit, Second Secretary.

Recommendations on Youri Latortue and Jean Renel Senatus ignored by Assembly

As the 14 Senators were swearing in, 2 Validation Commissions were formed to study the records of newly elected officials. The Validation Commission made the recommendations to defer the validation procedures for two of the newly elected Senators, Youri Latortue and Jean Renel Senatus, until the CEP give adequate explanation on their method of calculation. The two Senators took positions to defend their win and managed to convince the Assembly to validate them.

Haiti 14 elected senators of the 50th Legislature sworn in

On Tuesday, January 12, 2016, 14 newly elected Senate of the Republic went in function. All the 14 men, no women received their scarf and sworn in ceremony. Three Senators in function, Steven Benoit, Jean baptiste Bien Aimé and Wesner Polycarpe did not show up as a sign of protest. Here is the list of the newly elected Senators :

The Elected Senators of the 50th Legislature in Haiti

On Tuesday, January 12, 2016, fourteen newly elected Senators were sworn and received their scarves at the Senate of the Republic in the presence of the Andris Riché, the President of the Upper House. In Haiti, the Senate has 30 members, three per department, who are elected by popular vote to serve 6-year terms and one-third of the Senate is elected every two years. However, it has been operating with only 20 of 30 seats filled due to cancelled elections. The 14 new elected Senators will join 6 others who will be elected in the next by-election. The 'bureau of age' is composed of Senator Andris Riché, and the two younger Senators Antonio Cheramy and Jean Marie Solomon.

De facto Prime Minister Evans Paul must resign with elected parliament in function

Senator Francisco Delacruz has decided to add insult to injury with the current electoral crisis in Haiti. The Senator of Plateau Central has declared that the newly elected parliament scheduled to enter in function on January 11 can not co-exist with the actual prime minister and that the later must resign immediately following their investiture. As you may remember, Prime Minister Evans Paul did not occupy this function according to the Haitian constitution but rather as a result of a negotiation. As a De facto Prime minister, he was not ratified by the legislative branch and consequently can not be sanctioned by them either.

Calendar for Elected parliamentary to pick-up certificate at the CEP

In preparation to the opening of the 50th legislative session scheduled for January 11, 2016, the elected Parliamentarians were invited to obtain their certificates which give them access to the Haitian parliament. Here is the time calendar as to when these elected officials can come to pick-up their Certificate.

All elected Senators can drop by between 8:30am and 3:30pm. For the elected Deputies, the schedule is as follows:
For Department: Ouest and Centre: 8:30am - 9:00am
For Sud-Est and Nippes: 9:15am - 10:am
For Nord and Nord-Est: 1:30pm - 2:30pm
Artibonite and Nord-Ouest: 2:30pm - 3:30pm
