Cathedrale of Port-au-Prince

The Cathedral of Port-au-Prince was the most famous church in Haiti. Its proper name is Cathedral of our Lady of the Assumption.
With construction of the Cathedral of Port-au-Prince started in 1814, it took 30 year to finally completed the project. In 1928, the Cathedral became the Cathedral church of the Roma Catholic Archdiocese of Port-au-prince.
In the Haiti earthquake that killed over 300,000 people in Haiti, this monumental site was destroyed beyond repair. This also took the lives of the Archbishop Joseph Serge Miot.
