Emeline Michelle participating in Festival Kreol 2013 in Seychelles

A more than accomplished Haitian singer, Emeline Michelle is set to travel to what is considered the Creole capital of the world, the Seychelles. The twain will meet at the biggest festival for Creole music, the 28th edition of Festival Kreol in the Seychelles capital, Victoria.

Since her debut on the music scene, Michelle has taken her good-given talent, discovered in church and molded at the Detroit Jazz Center, to the populous in a series of albums that represent the emotions of the people. She has been able to take part in many jazz festivals in countries like France, the United States and Canada.

Born in Gonaives, Michelle left for Port-au-Prince for secondary school and was almost immediately picked up by someone in the business. Months later, her first single, Akai Kao, was released. Michelle would continue her schooling, and finished high school with a scholarship to study music in the United States, a journey that would earn her a bachelor in music studies.

Armed with this substantive bit of accreditation, Michelle returned to her country of birth and quickly became one of its most enduring, beloved and established musical acts. One of her biggest claims to fame was being chosen by Bill Clinton, former president of the United States of America, to be the headline for his 2000 strong gathering of world leaders in 2006, the Clinton Global Initiative, held in New York City.

Armed with an impressive roster of past accolades, her command of the stage earned from years of experience and the love of the people of the Seychelles, who have been exposed to her music as she receives heavy rotation in the country, Michelle is sure to be one of the festival's standout acts for its 28th edition.
