Having drawn the attention of riders from home and from abroad like, Marla Streb, Hans Rey, and the race's winner, Sonya Looney this year, the race will offer up a challenge to the riders who traverse the aptly titled 'land of mountains' next year. They are bound to find great adventure riding through the mountains above Port-au-Prince and along the coast of Cotes des Arcadins.
On the next occasion, scheduled from January 28th to February 2nd, the race will be hosted in Ranch le Montcel, from which the riders will move up into the rural villages, traverse through forests and climb up to 5,000 feet on their two-wheeled transports.
The mission of drawing crowds to Haiti for these types of world class events, while at the same time showing off as much of the country's beautiful terrain as possible, is made easy by the Mountain Bike Ayiti stage race. Haitian Minister of Tourism, Stephanie Villedrouin, is certain the bike race is the ideal opportunity to do this. Therefore, the six-day race will be more than just a sporting activity. It will end at Moulin Sur Mer Resort, where a festival, complete with Haiti's sights, sounds, food and life will be on full and great display to the travelling cyclists.
