National Police of Haiti to use speed radars To Decrease Road Accidents

The turnover was made at a ceremony that marked the end of a two-week road safety training conducted by gendarmes and the United Nations Police. During the training, Haitian officials were taught how to properly use the speed radars and breathalyzers which can help the authorities nab people driving under the influence of alcohol.

The radars are not the only assistance that French authorities gave to Haiti. The Embassy of France plans to hold a workshop aimed at raising children's awareness on pedestrian and traffic rules. The training will be conducted at the Ecole Jules Verne Pernier in the town of Petionville on July 27. A French gendarme of the UN Police will carry out the training, which will include the screening of a documentary film and the distribution of pedestrians' code of conduct.

These speed radars are only some of France's assistance to Haiti in ensuring road safety in the country. Pedestrian crossings, as well as traffic signs are also being installed in Port-au-Prince in order to keep people, especially pedestrians and motorists, safe as much as possible. Road accidents take many lives and Haiti no longer wants to lose more people due to the lack of road safety.
