Royal National Genius Competition Encourages Excellence

This year schools from five departments of Haiti participated in the week-long battery of testing to vie for the Royal National Genius title. Preceding the finals of the competition, Royal Marketing held preliminaries. Teams made up of eight students each were tested for their expertise in math, science, history, and social studies. In addition, they were also asked questions about current events at the local, national, and international levels.
College schools in competition for the title, School Champion 2013, include:
North Department (Cap-Haitien)
• Lycée Duty Boukman
• Collèges Notre Dame du Perpétuel Secours, Pratique du Nord, and Saint Joseph
South Department
• Camp Perrin
• College Coeurs-Unis
• Seminaire Collège de Mazenod
West Department
• Lycées Alexandre Pétion, Toussaint L'Ouverture, Anténor Firmin, and Saint-Louis de Gonzague
Artibonite Department (Gonaives)
• Collèges Elim, Immaculée Conception, and Mixte Méthodiste Libre
During the first day of preliminaries the outcomes posted showed:
• Two schools from North Department bested West Department
• One school from West Department beat North Department
• One school from North Department won over Artibonite Department
• One school from South Department triumphed over South Department
On Easter Sunday, the winning school will receive computers as well as scholarships toward their educations. Second and third-place runners-up will be given award certificates for their placements.
