When you hire your wedding photographer, develop a list of photos with them to shoot before, during, and after the ceremony, and at the reception. Ask for their ideas and suggestions. Here are some recommended suggestions for the pre-ceremony photos.

The most traditional photos are those of the bride posing with various members of her immediate and extended family. These include the bride standing next to her mother and father in separate photos. Then a photo of the bride with both parents flanking her.

Other traditional photos are the ones of the bride with her maids of honor and bridesmaids flanking her. And photos of her with her siblings.

The bride can also elect to have photos taken with her grandparents and godparents. If there are special friends, they can be photographed alone with the bride or with everyone else.

For the groom, there is the traditional photo of him alone, or showing him with his best man. And another photo of the groomsmen wearing their boutonnieres, alongside the best man and groom.
The other photos can be a narrative of the events leading up to the ceremony:
The bride adjusting her veil with her mother looking on.

The bride applying the final touches to her make-up or arranging her hair.

The maids of honor and bridesmaids receiving their bouquets.

The bride receiving her bouquet from her father.

The bride walking out the door of the house.

The bride's father helping her into the limousine.
