Dame-Marie is located in a small town on the seaside on Haiti's western tip in the Anse-d'Hainault municipality. It lies on the western side of the meridian at 74° 25'0" and towards the north of the equator at 18° 34' 0" with an elevation of 114 meters above the level of the sea.

Development in Dame-Marie
The Port au Prince is located at a 219 kilometers distance. On the Caribbean Sea edge, is located Dame-Marie town, filled with crags. As per the 2003 census, it has a population of around 271127.

With their belief that the Gospel cannot exist in tandem with misery CPFSI, and its founder Brother Franklin Armand, began a program that has turned life around for the inhabitants of one village in the Haitian city of Hinche.

With the entire country facing economic difficulties, exacerbated by the vicious cycle of agricultural deforestation, residents of Pandiassou, a small settlement in Haiti's Central Plateau, have benefited from the efforts of the missionary and their campaign to turn around the ability of the peasantry to sustain themselves in today's socio-economic climate.

Started over 25 years before, the Congregation of Little Brothers and Sisters of the Incarnate (CPFSI) first began by aiding the peasantry to feed itself. Once the immediate needs were met they set about making this abundance self-sustainable and stamping out the crippling dependency on food aid. What they established was a Konbit-like system of community farming that maximized the efficiency of the community's production. Unlike a traditional Konbit, the peasants are instrumental in the planning stages, which manifests in a more successfully cooperative undertaking.

Abricots is a beautiful place located in the Jeremie Arrondissement municipality in Haiti's Grand'Anse Department. The town is surrounded by a vast coastal area. All the year through, the climatic conditions are nice and pleasant. Hence the main activity carried out is fishing.

Main attraction of Abricots is the exotic beaches where lots of people visit to spend quality time in exploring the beautiful surroundings. Some of the best Haitian cooks prepare seafood with distinguished taste in Abricots. Exclusive seasoning and natural herbs are used for preparing fresh seafood harvested from the sea, the same day. Sugarcane, cacao and coffee are the other crops grown here.

Efforts are being exerted to improve the environment of the town of Grand-Gosier in Belle-Anse Arrondissement. This small town in the Sud Est department has experienced environmental degradation in the past. Rampant illegal logging is never good for the environment and Grand-Gosier's land was not spared from it. Due to too much logging of wood, the town's environment suffered and was greatly damaged. It also caused the extensive deforestation in the municipality. Because of this, non-government organizations became concerned about the town's environment. Therefore, they came up with plans and programs to restore the environment, which is very important. The organizations made efforts to reforest the affected areas.

Belle-Anse is a poor community in the Belle-Anse Arrondissement in Haiti. It is the arrondissement's headquarters that has faced a lot of challenges in the past years. Without help from international humanitarian organizations, this municipality of more than 51,000 people will have a hard time recovering.

The main livelihood of residents in this town is fishing. This is why it was greatly devastated when a strong storm hit the municipality in 2007. The storm Noel lashed the town, affecting its fishing industry. Residents' source of income hit a snag because of the damage caused by the storm. However, a number of international organizations, including Oxfam, sent assistance to the city. They helped revive the fishing industry so as to restore people's livelihood.

Caracol, a village in Haiti, is located in the Nord-Est Deparment which is a municipality in the Trou-du-Nord Arrondissement. At 19°41′0″N and 72°1′0″W it is located at a slight elevation and has around 6236 inhabitants. It is the least visited destination in Haiti.
Caracol is in the northern coast of Haiti and it was a fishing village stricken by poverty. It is also known to be poorest of all villages in the country.

Climate

The region is mountainous and rough and it borders with the Dominican Republic for around 360 kms. Caracol enjoys a semi arid and tropical climate. Trade winds are easily cut off by the mountains in the region. French is the official language spoken in Caracol.

In the Grand'Anse Department of Haiti is located a small village that is a municipality called Roseaux in the Corail Arrondissement. Around 34,617 people inhabit Roseaux. It is located at 76 meters altitude above the sea level between Jeremie and Corail covering 216.81 km2. Per km around 150 residents live in Roseaux.

Scenic Beauty And Ceremonies
Gommiers, Carrefour Charles, Pig Bottom and Grand Vincent are its four communal sections. This cove is enclosed with big rocks and beautiful bays along its shoreline lined with wooden boats.

Little kids love to play in the crystal clear shallow waters. Heavenly mountains, lush green vegetation and tall palm trees can be seen in the vicinity. Voodoo ceremonies were conducted in the huge dark caves on the mountains inhabited by bats.

The Northwest region of Haiti, which has been suffering from prolonged drought periods, will be bound to experience a new change altogether after construction of artificial lakes. The project which involved the construction of over 160 artificial lakes was well appreciated by the local dwellers that would use the new resource for fishing, watering their animals and using it for irrigation. With the established artificial lakes up and running, local dwellers will be in a position to adequately suffice their food needs and earn some income from the economic activities promoted by the new resource in the region, President Martelly said.
