Francois Guillaume II has new plan for Haitians Living Abroad

Francois Guillaume II is the new minister for Haitians living abroad (MHAVE). He had a meeting on Friday with Ministry staff. At this meeting he emphasised that everyone within MHAVE should be considered collaborators in a close and mutually respectful working relationship. There would be many challenges, but they would face them together.

The meeting was focused on the Haitian diaspora. Francois Guillaume emphasised the importance of the diaspora pointing out that the first minister of Haiti was one among this group. He stressed that members of the diaspora would collaborate with MHAVE to improve the image of Haiti overseas. He had a plan of action and list of objectives which included launching a campaign to improve Haiti's image abroad as well as carrying out a census of the distribution. Also, to ensure that members of the diaspora were kept informed of MHAVE's activities, representatives of the ministry would set up meetings and forums in every major city with a significant Haitian contingent to achieve this end. An agreement was expected to be signed with the Ministry of Foreign affairs.

Francois Guillaume II, Ministry of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE)

On Thursday, April 3, 2014, Mr. , Pierre-Richard Casimir, the outgoing Haitian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Acting Minister of the Ministry of Haitians Living Abroad (i.e., Ministère des Haïtiens Vivant à l'Étranger or MHAVE) has proceeded towards his new role as the Minister of MHAVE, of the Consul General of Haiti in Miami. He will assume his charges from François Guillaume II, the current Consul General of the Republic of Haiti in Miami since December 2011.

Mr. François Guillaume II is an economist with decade long experience in finance. In 2004, he had served as a consultant for the economic development to the council of Governor Bush's Haiti Advisory Group that drafted the comprehensive policy recommendations on economic, environmental and security to the Government of Haiti.

Haitian Women Honored by Consulate General of Haiti in Miami

On Sunday, 24 March, Miami's Cultural Section of the Consulate General of Haiti honored 12 women for their professionalism and creativity in community and humanitarian activities. This ceremony was held in Miami's Moca Café & Lounge. This ceremony was hosted by Émeline Michel, a famous singer from Haiti. The 12 women were awarded by "Beacon of Hope and Achievement Award". The ceremony was an outlet for thanking these women for their achievements and also to boost their morale for further contribution towards the development of the Haitian community.

The award was given out in turn by François Guillaume II (Miami's Consul General of the Republic of Haiti), Guy François Jr. (Vice-Consul), Mr. Isson Joseph (Consulate's Head for the Section of Community Services) and Cultural Section's Head. The 12 women who received the "Beacon of Hope and Achievement Award" were:
