According to a Presidential Decree dated May 27, 2016, the current Government Commissioner of Port-au-Prince, Jean Danton Leger, has been appointed to the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ)

The CSPJ is a nine member Supreme Council of the Judiciary established in May, 2012 by former President Michel Martelly. The creation of the CSPJ was considered a historic moment in Haiti as many believed at the time it would mark a turning point in providing some independence of the Haitian justice from the executive government.

Roro Nelson is now a fugitive from Haitian justice, fleeing from custody. He is a wanted person. Government Commissioner Danton Leger was shocked to see Roro Nelson on Television participating in the Haitian musical event in Miami, Florida recently.

After more than 20 complaints against him with several court invitations left answered, Government Commissioner Danton Leger had issued an Arrest warrant against Roro Nelson. However; like many people, he was surprised to see Roro Nelson in Miami, performing with former President Michel Martelly. Mr. Leger intends to seek the help of The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) to capture Roro Nelson and bring him to justice

Jean Danton Leger has been named the new Government Commissioner of Port-au-Prince and entered in function on April 1, 2016. He replaces Clamé Ocnam Daméus. As a note, this in not the first time Jean Danton Leger is Government Commissioner. He occupied this function before in the jurisdiction of Jacmel, his home town. The fifty one year old Danton Leger is also a former Deputy of Léogâne

On Friday, April 1, 2016, the former Deputy Jean Danton Léger was sworn in as the new Government Commissioner of Port-au-Prince. He was sworn in by the Dean of the Court of First Instance (TPI) of Port-au-Prince, Mr. Bernard St-Vil. He was installed into his new responsibility, replacing his interim predecessor Mr. Clamé-Ocnam Daméus who was formerly appointed replacing Mr. Kerson Darius Charles after the famous trial of Sonson Lafamilia. As the new Chief of Public Prosecutions, Danton has promised to respect the image of the Justice represented by a blindfolded woman who is unbiased of the color, gender and social status of the people seeking justice before her.

The day has come when Me Francisco René is obligated to "Prendre ses Affaires" and leave his powerful position as the Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince. The rug has been removed under his feet. I want to take a piece in the classic from Maurice Sixto in his piece Zabelbok Ber-a-Chat and I find myself on the side of "Manzè Sandrine" to say: "Kabelbok Perdi Paryag sa"

Me Francisco René who recently replaced Me Lucmane Delille in office as the Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince was fired on November 27, 2013.He was the 9th Commissioner of Government under President Michel Martelly.

Me Francisco René, the Chief Prosecutor of Port-de-Paix, has been appointed as the Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince and the 9th Commissioner in the President Martelly Government since it came to power. He replaced Me Lucmane Delille, who held this office since October 30, 2012. Me Delille, the former commissioner of Port-au-Prince, has been transferred to the Ministry of Justice.

The appointment of Me Francisco René as the new Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince was confirmed by the Minister of Justice, Jean Renel Sanon, on August 19, 2013. Me Francisco René, as the former Chief Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince, has left behind a mixed record of several unsolved political and judicial scandals. Although Mr. Rene is already a reputed leader of ASMAH, an association of pro-government judges, his appointment as the Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince came amidst stern condemnation and protest even before he took charges as the Ninth Commissioner of the Government.

Me Lucmane Delille would like a return to the good old days, a time when youth were respectful to others and conscious of how the way they dressed and their general deportment reflected on the country, and he is not afraid to dictate the terms of this repatriation to morality in Haiti.

The Government Commissioner recently let it be known he intended to fight the current trend towards youthful immorality as chronicled in the dress, behavior and patterns of young people. High on his list are tight clothing on young women, ratty shoes and socks and the prison-house style of wearing the pants below the buttocks. With apprehension threatened for behavior viewed as indecent, and with the list of possible offences extending to copious noise issuing from churches, night clubs, homes, and public transit vehicles etc. Commissioner Delille has set himself up for a fight by human rights groups across the country and the Diaspora.

Simon Dieuseul Desras, President of the Senate stated to a journalist on Thursday that Lucmane Delille, Port-au-Prince's Government Commissioner is not competent enough nor does he have the disposition at a professional level to purse a case against Jean-Bertrand Aristide, the former President.

Who Should Deal The Case
Delille seems unfit for various reasons. It is recalled by Senator Desras that the capital city's government commissioner was a GNB or the Grenn Nan Bouda member. GNB translation indicates, 'sexual organs of males in the buttocks'. Elites as a reactionary group formed GNB that includes Haitian President who was a musician formerly. In 2004 to oust the President, Group 184 funded GNB.

In a bid to keep Haiti communities safe and secure, the authorities are now going after criminals and suspicious individuals. Commissioner of the Government Me Lucmane Delile launched the "Gason Pa Kanpe" campaign that is meant to catch criminals and stop them from inciting fear among the public. The campaign started strong, with more than 25 arrests in just a couple of days. Every kind of criminals, including kidnappers and drug dealers, are getting targeted by the campaign.

Lucmane Delile said the campaign"Gason Pa Kanpe" is just beginning, as they plan to go after criminals even harder. He shared that officials started rounding out criminals in the capital of Port-au-Prince, where they questioned and investigated a number of suspects. Officials are also setting their sights on various areas such as banks and neighborhoods with high crime rates. They are determined to make people safe in going to banks because there were instances wherein criminals went after their victims while the latter are doing bank transactions.

Over the years, Haiti has dealt with several disasters. The latest calamity it had to face was Hurricane Sandy, which claimed the lives of more than 50 people. The hurricane also destroyed houses, farms and infrastructure when it battered the country for days. Threats of cholera outbreaks and other diseases also loom over the country as about 350,000 people lost their homes.

With the situation, the government under President Michel Martelly called on the international community for help. Together with the United Nations, the government asked for additional $74 million in relief aid, which will be used to rehabilitate farms and reconstruct homes, among others. Basically, the government is depending on foreign assistance to deal with the disaster's aftermath. The call for help was not ignored, as foreign charity organizations such as Oxfam and the United Nations relief agency have been working to help people affected by the hurricane.

Let me put it this way instead. Can Government Commissioner, Jean Renel Senatus, really crack down on beggars in Haiti?

To be fair to the Government Commissioner, he made the point that he is referring to beggars in front or near banks. "There are beggars, who are part of networks of thieves who stand in front of the BRH to the Rue Pavée, in front of the BNC, of commercial banks and serve as scouts for thieves".

If we had to come up with the real list of beggars in Haiti, I assume that the list would be pretty long. I have a few names:
