Petion-ville A Suburb, Commune And Wealthy Place In Haiti

Pétion-ville is a suburb in the capital of Haiti, Port-au-Prince. It is situated on the Massif de la Selle northern hills, east of the city. In 1770-1818 it got its name after the President and General of Haiti, Alexandre Sabès Pétion. He was one of the four founding fathers of Haiti.

Wealthiest Place In Haiti

With a population of 342,694 as per 2009 census, Petion-ville is a well known residential area. It is the metropolitan area of the city, is affluent and well known for tourist activities.

Residents in Petion-ville include business people, foreign businessmen and diplomats. As compared to Port-au-Prince and other major Haitian cities, Petion-ville has more security. Buzzing with business this area has an active night life and is more peaceful.

Prime Minister Garry Conille involved in Car accident in Laboule

How can this happen? The car brakes of the head of of Haiti government failed. According to the report, it happened in the location of Laboule near port -au-Prince when the car that was taking Prime Minister Garry Conille got into an accident. The accident was not serious and Prime Minister Garry Conille was not hurt.

Mr. Conille, as head of government, I would advise that you go and find out what's going on.

Rene Preval urges for calm after Election results

Following the chaos triggered by the results of the 2010 Haiti Election results, Rene Preval appealed for calm. As thousands of supporters of Michel Martelly took to the streets protesting the election results in which their candidate was not qualified to participate in the runoff election, the president admitted allegation of frauds in the election.

Rene Preval stated that: "If there are problems we can sit down and personally discuss it"." We are asking everyone, please stop burning tires on the roads, stop destroying government buildings, stop attacking people's businesses. We are asking every one to obey the law."" Investors would not want to come if things stay like that."
