Not to Share Wealth with Poor is Theft, Pope Francis

On November 27, 2013, Pope Francis, the 266th and current Pope of the Catholic Church has taken aim at capitalism and termed it as theft unless wealth is shared with poor. In an 84-page document, he has urged that to save the economy, the world leaders should intensify their efforts to fight against poverty and inequality.

Rich people should share their wealth with the poor. Pope Francis also warned that the present financial system supports uneven distribution of wealth; people are becoming aggressive, corrupted, and heartless. They always want to accumulate more for own. Nobody cares when a homeless aged person dies carelessly but if the stock market loses two points it becomes a sensational news.

Martelly Appointee Absconds with $3 Million in Cash

Claude Raymond Jr., a Martelly appointee, was recently installed as Director General of the Office of Immigration and Emigration (OIE), along with eight other Director Generals in September. Martelly, speaking at the induction ceremony, issued a challenge to the new officials, saying they could only ". . . deserve his confidence . . . " by living up to what the Haitian people asked of them as public servants.

Claude Raymond Jr., succeeded in losing Martelly's confidence almost immediately. Not long after his installation, he was detained by Dominican Republic police with a $3 million dollar stash, concealed in an envelope. Someone in the OIE had secret information about the embezzlement, and reported it to the Senate. Senator François Anick ordered an inspection of all briefcases conducted, passing between the borders of Caribbean countries.

Complaint against Jean-Bertrand Aristide by Members Victim of Cooperatives

A complaint was filed against Jean-Bertrand Aristide, former President, by the National Coordination of Members Victim of Cooperatives - (CONASOVIC) for conspiracy, fraud, theft and breach of trust.

Vast Swindling Leaves Members Ruined
CONASOVIC Coordonnateur, Rosemond Jean made clarifications that, former President of CNC - Council of Cooperatives, Henriot Petiote, Head of United Hearts, David Chery and former leader of the CADEC - Cooperative of Insurance Savings and Credit have also been pursued in the complaint by Members Victim of Cooperatives.

During the bankruptcy of 2002-2003, all assets had been lost by the financial cooperative members numbering thousands who had joined the scheme attracted by the 10% interest rate promised. There was a collapse of the get rich scheme due to the vast swindle thus leaving the members ruined and Haiti, much poorer.

The Pathology of Antisocial Behavior

People who engage in acting-out behaviors such as hostility, physical attacks, harassment, torture of people or animals, chronic lying, destruction of property, and theft are suffering from a conduct disorder.

According to researchers, such persons are immune to pain or physical threats and the restraints of a lawful society. Because of their immunity to threats, physical pain, and the consequences of their actions, they feel free to inflict mental, emotional, and physical injuries on others.

If these antisocial behaviors continue into adulthood, the odds are an antisocial personality disorder (APD) has formed. APD bears resemblance to another type of destructive behavior disorder, sociopathic or psychopathic personality disorder. Research surveys indicate 1% of females and 3% of males suffer from a version of APD.

Anti-Social Personality Disorder Signs

If parents, teachers, and the community recognize the signs of an anti-social personality disorder appearing in a youth, they can take steps to get help for the individual. Here are twelve common signs to watch out for.

1. They exhibit cruel treatment towards people and pets. Repeatedly harm, threaten, and physically abuse them.

2. They frequently provoke physical altercations.

3. They use harmful or deadly weapons, for example, a baseball bat, rock, razor, knife or firearm.

4. They steal from people directly, for example, pick pocketing, cell phone theft, hold-ups for cash or credit cards.

Three thieves burned in tires (Pere Lebrun) in La Plaine, Port-au-Prince

It is with great sadness that news of three dead young boys reached the citizens of Haiti last week on Wednesday. The bodies were found in the wee hours of the morning having been killed and with their hands tied behind their backs and burned with vehicle tires. The three young boys were said to be a mob of thieves that had been terrorizing the cities and towns near La Plaine, Port-au-Prince and had given the residents a vey hard time for a while. It is therefore believed that the residents lynched the boys with the idea of trying to teach the residents a lesson.

Private Security Companies grow in Haiti since 2010 Earthquake

The earthquake of 2010 has left most of Haiti in ruins. But as the years went by, the country that has once been shattered by natural disasters and political turmoil seems to be recovering and developing its economic, political, and social sectors. In a very recent report, the industry of private security has become a booming trend in the country as the number of companies who provide such service continues to dramatically increase since 2010.

The number of private security firms has been rapidly developing at a rate of about eight percent per year. Currently, these firms are totaled to be at about 41 and comprise of 12,000 guards that ensure the safety of several institutions and individuals in the Haiti. What is the reason behind this sudden trend? The 2010 earthquake which left the country on its knees provided an increase in international relations where international biggies such as the United Nations needed to hire thousands more of personnel to ensure the success of their peacekeeping mission in Haiti. In addition, the ongoing political conflicts and economic inequality apparent in the nation has made wealthy individuals and families paranoid to the possibility of theft and kidnapping, thus hiring private guards for their safety.
