China to build cable car linking Labadee with Citadelle Laferriere

On September 25, 2015, the China National Automation Control System Corp. (CACS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Haitian government, which includes four projects on road construction, construction of a cable car which would link the municipality of Labadie to the archaeological site of Citadelle Laferriere and a $290 million rehabilitation project and expansion of Toussaint Louverture international airport. To mark 66 years of the founding of the People's Republic of China, its business office in Haiti hosted a reception on September 28th which was attended by several Haitian authorities, the diplomatic and consular corps, representatives of civil society and businessmen. During this event, the official representatives of the Chinese government in Haiti have reiterated that in recent years, several Chinese companies have been engaged in the economic construction of Haiti. He has also stressed that cultural exchanges play an important role in bilateral relation.
