Mgr Guire Poulard enthroned as New archbishop of Port-au-Prince

A big day for Mgr Guire Poulard this Saturday, March 26, 2011 as he was enthroned as the new archbishop of Port-au-Prince.

Mgr Guire Poulard replaced the archbishop Joseph Serge Miot who perished during the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

Archbishop Joseph Serge Miot was inside when the the Cathedral in Port-au-Prince was destroyed.

Mgr Guire Poulard became the new archbishop at the age of 65. The ceremony was held under the tent beside the ruins of the current Cathedral.

Hundreds of priest, local and international were present during his enthronement.

The current president of Haiti, Rene Preval, did not attend the ceremony; however, both presidential candidates Mirlande Manigat and Michel Martelly were present.
