American Red Cross pocketed close to $125 million of Haiti earthquake fund

According to a report released Thursday by Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, The American Red Cross Spent almost $125 million or 25 Percent of donated fund after the 2010 Haiti earthquake on its own internal expenses. This is far more than the organization had previously disclosed. Red Cross had reported in the past that only 9 percent of donated money were used to cover international expenses. The following is a partial list of some of the abuses reported by the report released by Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley:

In 2010, the American Red Cross issued a check for $4.3 million to its sister organization the International Federation of the Red Cross. The purpose is disaster preparedness.

In addition to the $4.3 million, the American Red Cross spent another $2 million on its own to manage the grant.

The American Red Cross also took out hundreds of thousands of dollars in administrative fees.

Red Cross pocketed ninety-six per cent ( 96% ) of the proceed after the earthquake and only four percent ( 4% ) was used in / not given to
