Haiti Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, Seeks End to Corruption, Fraud and Smuggling

Lamothe called for a public-private partnership among the business people in order to crackdown on Corruption, Tax Fraud and Smuggling. The Haitian Prime Minister said the partnership can create a new policy aimed at making a much-needed change. Laurent Lamothe believes that putting an end to such crimes can lead to higher government revenues. And higher revenues mean better resources for the government to use in development efforts.
Moreover, the prime minister and the other officials tackled the economy and ways to boost its growth. They laid out issues hindering the economy from growing, specifically corruption, fraud and smuggling. They also called for an awakening citizen with an objective to provide fair and efficient public service.
Laurent Lamothe highlighted the importance of the roles of the private sector and the international community in turning the government's vision of a better economy into reality. He reiterated his plans to raise public awareness on the need for new policies and the significance of people's involvement in government initiatives. Everyone can contribute in stopping smuggling, tax frauds and corruption and in helping improve the economy.
