Minister of Foreign affairs in Haiti, a government secret Cash Cow

In an attempt to bring some clarification to a recently published report from Cour Supérieure des Comptes et du Contentieux Administratif (CSCCA), former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Duly Brutus revealed an atmosphere of abuses and corruption he had to deal with at Minister of Foreign affairs. Abuses of privileges and corruption are often the norms there with people not working but receiving their checks religiously. Also abuses of telephone use, cars belonging to the Minister and gas by staff and people with connection often take place.

People on Payroll at the Minister of Foreign affairs:
According to Duly Brutus, The Minister of Foreign Affairs employed about 600. Some of the so called employees do not work but receive their checks monthly. To make it easier, their money are deposited electronically to their bank accounts. Even Minister Brutus is unaware of their duties.

Abuse of telephone use at the Minister of Foreign affairs:
Mr. Brutus reported that the Minister owed about 40 million gourdes to telephone company Digicel at one point; However, he was unable to give further explanation as to when these telephone calls were made, who made them and the person at the Minister responsible monitor telephone usage and cost. One employee allegedly spoke for 90,000 gourdes in a single Month.

Abuse of Vehicles of Minister of Foreign affairs and gas:
Duly Brutus reported that he faced problems with vehicles that belong to the Minister as well. Several individuals who do not work for the minister are using these vehicles. Some names were mentioned as people who do not work for the Minister but have been using these vehicles. Deputy Abel Descollines, Ralph Ttheano and Senator Wencesclass Lambert either have used these vehicles or still have them in their possession. It was also reported that some of them are just abandoned when broken on the road. One individual who uses a car from the minister changes 42 tires in one single Month. Gas abuse is another issue reported by Mr. Brutus.

Duly Brutus who is a candidate for the next presidential election said that he went into the position to do a clean-up.
