Simon Dieuseul Desras and his Revolution in Haiti

Many of us would agree that the previous legislative body in Haiti did not do much in term of passing new laws. Some people may also say that many of them use their position to enrich themselves. However, many people would be shocked to hear me saying that:. The President of the Senate, Simon Dieuseul Desras, however managed to accomplish one single action that may be considered the biggest revolution in Haiti since our struggle for independence.

So what is it?

During a negotiation process between the Government of Michel Martelly and several political parties, Mr. Simon Dieuseul Desras managed to strip away from the executive branch, its biggest hold, control or power which is none other than the power to use public funds as it pleases them land without any accountability or explanation to give to anyone.

From the time this new Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes in Haiti entered in function, it has been a totally new and different ball game in Haiti. Suddenly, people who thought they were untouchable realized that they are now living in a new reality. They now know there is an institution that they have to give explanation to if they are in control of public funding, and that the justification must makes sense. What makes matters worst for the current and past administrators of public funds is that the members of this new Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes have been gaining in popularity daily. At this point I believe this advances made by this team is irreversible. The public will no longer expect anything less from the Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes. I can even see already the actuality in just a few months to be consumed by former government officials going to prison because they are unable to prove where the money went.

To me, this is a big accomplishment realized by former President of the Senate, Senator Simon Dieuseul Desras. As time goes by, we will realize this effort to put this new team at the Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes was by itself a major revolution. The biggest accomplishment of Senator Simon Dieuseul Desras has come and gone unnoticed, but the repercussion is big, to the point it may revolutionize the way Haiti is governed from now on.

Does anyone remember the struggle between Senator Simon Dieuseul Desras and President Martelly back in 2014. Senator Desras had imposed some conditions before signing some document of a consensus between the leaders of political parties for solving the political crisis that was undermining the stability of the country. He agreed to sign the final agreement only after President Martelly published in the official journal, Le Moniteur, the names of the ten new members of the Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes. These name were submitted by the Senate several months before but the government of Michel Martelly did not want to publish them for the reason some people qualified as lack of control over the group. After many unsuccessful attempts to disqualified some of the individuals submitted, Michel Martelly released the names of the ten new judges to the Superior Court of Auditors to facilitate the process of signing the document.

The introduction of this ten new members at the Superior Court of Auditors marks a turning point in the history of this institution in Haiti and the way it does business. Since this new group started working together, they have been impartial and many former and current administrators of public funds are feeling the heat. They already audited several government agencies and often with devastating consequences. Even Prime Ministers are not exempts from their harsh verdicts.

The lack Discharge obtained by some former officials of past governments to participate in the up-coming election is a direct consequence of the excellent work of this new group at the Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes. What do you think would happen with Former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe and many more who have been entrusted to manage public fund if this Superior Court of Auditors did nit exist? They all would likely receive their rubber stamp approval and discharge to continue with their same practices

So far, many people have been praising the Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes for their work. It would be equally important to remember the person who actually made this possible. It is no other than Simon Dieuseul Desras

Simon Dieuseul Desras is a Lavals spy. Having him running for president is just another angle of the Lavalas and Jean Bertrand Aristide.

Do not let yourself taken by Fanmi Lavalas.

Here is the game: We can say Jean Bertrand Aristide so far has three major candidates running in the next Presidential election and if we are not careful, one of them will be the president, receiving instruction from Jean Bertrand Aristide.

One one side, you have Moise Jean Charles, onthe other side, you have Maryse Narciste.

I agree with you completely my friend.

Senator Simon Dieuseul Desras did not receive the credit he deserves.

He is what many people would call "Yon Politisyen Madre" He doesn't have any problem with President Martelly.

But some how, as a politician, he got what he wanted.

I also agree that by removing the control Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes away from the President.

they are going to have a lot less power in the future.

good job
