Possessing the typical tropic climate, green hills adorn Savanette with a refreshing and pure river that plummets down into a glen. At the base of the hills, a swimming site, known as Basin Longe, beckons natives with cooling waters on hot days. Before the building of a well in Savanette, residents were forced to trek hours to find water. Since Water 4 a Billion, a non-government organization, finished the well, the population has been saved the trouble of hiking many miles for access to clean water.

As you would expect anywhere in Haiti, the population of Savanette is mostly Catholic, with a small colony of Voodoo believers. Voodoo was originally imported from the Congo. A surprisingly flexible religion, it has incorporated some aspects of Christianity into its ritualistic practices. A Roman Catholic Church dominates the surroundings of Savanette, overlooking the city, its building front looking towards the verdant hills.

Savanette's sources of income include coffee and timber production and livestock agriculture. Timber companies are one of the biggest employers of the city's citizens, and a primitive construction trade also exists. For construction material, workers are often seen smashing enormous rocks to create pebbles, which will be utilized for building purposes.

Savanette, a mix of old and new, recently built a school, while it retains a decades-old town market.
