Georges Loubert Chancy of Skah Shah

The artiste Georges Loubert Chancy was born in Gros Mornes, Haiti. He joined the Skah Shah 1 band and became one of the most notable members of the group. In 1969 to 1972 Georges Loubert Chancy was a member of Shleu Shleu. He is a composer of many of the songs the band has done and outstandingly one of the original members of the group. Georges Loubert Chancy is one of the best Haitian Saxophone Players of all time.

This first solo album of leader Skah Shah was born after the conflict between him and Ya Appolon for "control, direction or musical direction" of Skah Shah. Some of the members of the group besides include Daniel Block who plays the Tenor saxophone, Anderson Cameau who does the trumpet and Jean-Michel Victor St. does the singing while others contribute to the harmony to come up with the melodious songs you listen to each day.

Tuco Bouzi Biography

Tuco Bouzi is a well-known Haitian drummer and composer. He is the founder of reputed Dixie Band. He earned enormous popularity among the Haitian community through this band.

The first album of Tuco Bouzi, Bel Carnaval, with Dixie band was released in 1984. He released a number of hit albums with the band including Malouines, Roule, Lolita, Ti Yaya, El Unico, Vérité, Aba, Abou Yeye, Pretty Lady, Abu, Kimbe Compaou, La Ki Ni Nana, Bayo Bayo, Voye Monte, Andrea, Les Grands Success de Dixi Band, La Ban'n A Touco. One of his legendary tracks is "Tuco's salsa" which is in the album Vérité.

However, the band was broken and Tuco Bouzi started working on his own and with different other bands and singers. Dixie Band is so popular that even now they are invited to perform in different national programmes in Haiti.

Daniel Bernard Roumain, composer, musician

Daniel Bernard Roumain is one of the Haitian-American artists that have rocked the world for their talents and capabilities. He is an all-time recording artist, composer, performer and band leader. He is known for his abilities to easily blend different types of music and comes up with unique and very attractive forms of music.
Among his famous collections and makings is the blend of funk, rock, classical and hip hop music to generate a really interesting and attractive form of music that is very sweet to all those who listen to it. Roumain is able to do all these simply because despite having the talent he also went to school where he perfected and mastered the various ways of doing what he does best.
Daniel Bernard Roumain attended Dillard Center for the Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and attained his first degree in Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music and furthered for a doctorate which he got at the University of Michigan. He is thus a very educated musician who knows what is best for what he does. There are many who admire his music which as he claims is an afro fusion type of music specially meant for those who love all the types of music like he does.
It is for this reason that he did come up with his types of music and why he opts at all times to come up with unique stuff that will keep his audience interested and thrilled all the way to the last tune. Daniel Bernard Roumain has many diff ranging from being a composer where he has collaborated with various famous names such as Paul D. Miller also best known as DJ Spooky. He is thus a very prominent figure to watch out for as very soon he could be the next big thing in the world of music.

Frantz Casseus, guitarist and composer

Frantz Casseus was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He was a guitarist and a composer of classical and folk music which was more of traditional music. He discovered his passion of playing the guitar while he was young; he became the first guitarist in the island who would sing as a soloist and the same time play guitar.

Frantz Casseus created a niche of himself in music. At the age of 23 years he would perform classical music in concerts. He was no doubt a talented artist who would transform folk music of his country into expressions with meaning of his traditions. Singing folk songs of his own country limited him from getting good singers to back him up as he played the guitar, but this did not prevent him from prospering. His dream came to pass when he met Lolita Cuevas, the Puerto Rican-born who were vocalists from Haiti. He began collaboration with them as interpreters.

Jerry "Wonda" Duplessis, Haitian composer and record producer

Jerry "Wonda" Duplessis, a musician who is self-taught on several musical instruments, is a Haitian composer and record producer. Born in a sub-section of Port-au-Prince, the young muscian, at 16, arrived in the U.S., to be raised by his father and aunt, Wyclef Jean's mother. He turned the family's basement into a recording studio, Booga Basement, for musicians in the area. As his career started to take off, in 2001 Wonda would open his Platinum Sound Recording Studios in Times Square, New York City.

In the years of their producing partnership, Jerry "Wonda" Duplessis and Wyclef produced a Caribbean-flavored group soon to be known as "The Fugees". "The Fugees" and Wonda/Wyclef struck gold with a cover of Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly" on Pop and R&B charts, their success reaching an even higher peak, when their album "The Score" achieved global success as one of the best-selling hip-hop albums of all time.

Arly Lariviere to be honored by County Commissioner Jean Monestime

Arly Lariviere is American- Haitian musician. He loved music since his hay days, but this passion for music came from his father and Tropicana D'Haiti. This passion developed greatly making him come up with Nu look group. He played the role of a conductor of Nu look group for 11 years. Lariviere was a talented musician who enjoyed Haitian music.

He has made an attempt to resign from Nu look group due to some circumstances, but this became impossible due to his love for his fans. His fans claimed to lose morale of Nu look group if he resigned, and his resignation would affect the members of Nu look and their dependants. Due to his value for his fans Arly Lariviere chose to remain the group for the time being.

Bemol Telfort to be honored by County commissioner Jean Monestime

Bemol Telfort was born and bred in Port Au Prince, Haiti. He was song writer, singer, guitarist, bassist, conga player, composer arranger and bandleader. Growing up in Haiti where there are many artists made him admire singing. At the age of six he started playing Conga which he did till the age of 8 where he used body percussion. Since he had no money to buy a guitar, he made himself one at the age of 10 years.

His guitar was unique, though it lacked some scales like c major. Telfort attempted to come up with a guitar with c major scale. To achieve this he bought various guitar books that he came across. To earn a living he played conga, breathing percussion instrument and his own made guitar.
