Maguy Durce, Renaissance Woman and Haitian Fashion Force

Fashion designer, Maguy Durce, is a creative and political force to be reckoned with. She has been active not only in the field of fashion, but also as a public servant.

The year 2012 was an especially busy one for her. With European Union and institutional support, she organized Haiti Fashion Week in Miami. This event was a platform for Haitian fashion designers, which brought them attention from around the world. Durce also started a fashion design workshop with help from the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund.

The fashion industry in Haiti also named her "Personality of the Year" for her contributions to Haitian fashion. The international media was on hand for the event, celebrating her selection. Durce is not modest about receiving the honor, as she says "Honestly, I think I deserve it because I worked hard."

Haitian Designer Stella Jean to Show 2014 Collection at Armani Atelier

Stella Jean, a Haitian-Italian fashion designer, has been singled out by haute couture icon, Giorgio Armani, to show her 2014 collection at Armani Teatro. The showing will take place during Fall Milan Fashion Week.

The distinction of showing at the prestigious salon on Via Bergognone is not lost on Jean. Winner of Vogue Italia's Who's On Next talent search, she says Armani's recognition of her is received with much gratitude. To be chosen in the field of young fashion designers by an innovator, who has his finger on the pulse of fashion trends to come, is a remarkable honor.

Donna Karan created meche hearts "Fashion for Haiti: One Million Hearts"

For Donna Karan, Haiti is the confluence of all her passions which include children's education, preservation of culture and well-being and health of people. She showed how big her heart is when she displayed her heart on 'Fashion for Haiti: One Million Hearts'. Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Nicole Miller along with 150 members of Council of American Fashion Designers put on auction the mâché hearts they created for 'Fashion for Haiti: One Million Hearts'. The auction runs from 22 April, 2013 to 2 May, 2013. 'Fashion for Haiti' is a collaboration between eBay, CFDA and Urban Zen.

Karan told to Women's Wear Daily that she was mesmerized by the extent and vividness of creativity and that each piece was unique in its own way and she could not call them anything less than couture collection. The money raised from the auction will be used by Urban Zen Foundation to help the Haitian artists. These Haitian artists actually created the hearts put on auction but were decorated by the designers. The New York location of Urban Zen has the installation of the hearts.

Haitian Fashion Designer Charles Dieujuste Introduces Spring/Summer

Charles Corvsky Dieujuste is Haitian fashion designer. Charles had grown up with the passion for art. He once told his mother that he wanted to be an artist but his mother did not encourage him at that age because she wanted him to study. Despite the discouragement, his passion grew day by day.

Charles was greatly influenced by his aunt who was a tailor. He decided to do a unique thing from what his family did. Though he did not attend any school to study fine art as he would have liked, he was able to design fashion. He worked up in a textile company and their home sewing productions. These two molded him into a fashion designer.

Neomi Campbell organizes Fashion for Relief for Haiti

Supermodel Neomi Campbell is grabbing the attention by gathering some of the biggest international stars in designs, modeling and singing to participate in her Fashion for Relief Haiti for the earthquake victims. The Fashion for Relief Haiti event that was co-hosted by Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York.

Neomi Campbell took to the stage, followed by models, artists, wearing the latest dress creations by some of the internationally known designers.

Neomi Campbel organized two such events to raise money for the victims of Haiti earthquake. Her first event took place during New York Fashion Week and the second, to raise money for mothers and their new born in Haiti.
